KLA Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of students attend KLA?

KLA is a dropout prevention school. As an alternative school, we work with students who need help finding a different path to academic success that might not be found in a traditional school setting. May Bethel students live in the dorms? Bethel students are NOT eligible to live in the dorms.

How do I apply to KLA?

First, fill out the online application. Second, send your transcript to KLA (via email, fax, or in person). Third, after your application and transcripts are received someone from KLA will call you to schedule an entrance interview.

Am I guaranteed a spot at KLA when I apply?

Unfortunately, due to the high number of applications and limited space, not everyone that applies to KLA is accepted.

How will I know if I have been accepted to KLA?

The KLA office let you know that you have been accepted to the program.

How will I know if I have not been accepted to KLA? The KLA office will send out a letter to inform you if you have not been accepted to the program. I have been accepted but the dorms are full--now what? Keep going to school while you wait! One of the KLA expectations is that students are moving forward with their educations, so we highly encourage students to keep working while they wait for a space in the dorms. May I attend KLA while I wait for an opening in the dorm? Absolutely! If students on the dorm waitlist can arrange for housing in Bethel then they are welcome to start attending KLA while they wait for an opening in the dorms.

What is it like living in the dorms? Questions about dorm life? Check out the Residential Handbook on the Important Documents page.

Who do I contact if I have any questions?

Contact the KLA office at (907) 543-5610 if you have any questions about applying to KLA.
