The school year at KLA is divided into six, 6-week sessions. The sessions are designed to help students focus on three to four classes at a time; different classes are offered each session based on student needs. Students can earn 0.5 credit per class each session.

KLA students need at least 22 credits to graduate, and must need to meet the following amount of credits per subject:


Language Arts (5)
Options: Language Arts I, Language Arts II, American Literature, Lit Lab

Life Skills (1)
Options: Yup'ik Yuuyaraq Personal Life Skills, Personal Life Skills, Consumer Life Skills

Electives (5)
Options: Work Based Learning, Driver's Education, 2D Art, 3D Art, Online Courses

Math (3)
Options: Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry

Science (3)
Options: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, Physical Science

Social Studies (3)
Options: World History, U.S. History, Alaska Studies, Government

Health (1)
Options: Health I, Health II

Physical Education (1)
Options: Judo
