Congratulations to the Kuskokwim Learning Academy Class of 2024! Our 8 graduating seniors celebrated with a throw party after they were honored at commencement this past Friday. We are so proud of each of you!

KLA is currently accepting applications for 2024-25. We are also excited to announce that next year KLA students will have increased opportunities for work-based learning and CTE electives!

Congratulations to Alicia Sunny, Jordyn Berlin and Leanna White, our January, February and March students of the month!

LKSD is participating in the Meals to You Alaska demonstration program. This is a 12-week Summer Food Service Program which will provide a 5-day meal box directly shipped to students who enroll in the program.

KLA students Leanna White, Benjamine Pavil, and Shaden Tobeluk recently gave a presentation to the LKSD Strategic Improvement Team about the KLA Sources of Strength program.

Student-led conferences will be held February 29 (UPDATED TIME), 2:20-4 pm. Spring Break is March 4-11. Report cards will be mailed home March 18.

KLA's winter break is December 19 - January 5. December 18 we will release on the early release Friday Schedule.

School picture retakes will take place Tuesday, December 5, for BRHS, KLA and Preschool.

We will have early release for Thanksgiving break on Wednesday, November 22 at 2:30 pm, and will be closed Thursday and Friday. Have a safe and happy holiday!

The LKSD Board of Education Superintendent's Search Committee will meet in a work session open to the public on November 27, 5:30 pm.

Join us Monday, November 6, at 6:30 pm at the BRHS Cafeteria to share ideas about ways we can work together and help our students grow.

School picture day for KLA is Thursday, Oct. 5. Community photos will be taken at Ayaprun Elitnaurvik, Thursday, Oct. 5, 5-7pm.

There will be a Title I Meeting and Open House Thursday, Sept. 28. You can join us virtually or in person.

KLA will still have school as usual today.Morning bus routes are the same for those who bus to school. Get picked up at your normal spot, then bus from BRHS to KLA on bus #5.

Beginning Monday, August 14, KLA students who don't live in dorms follow the normal BRHS bus schedule and will be transported to KLA. See below for a link to bus schedules.

KLA students and staff attended the Byron Nicholai concert this past weekend.

The school year is winding down, but our KLA community continues to learn and grow together. Read more for a snapshot of some of our recent activities.

Our last day of school for the spring semester is May 20. School resumes on August 10.

KLA students performed at Cama-i this year and we are so grateful and proud of their hard work. Many thanks to our staff and community who helped make this possible.

The LKSD Board of Education has approved changes to the district's COVID-19 Protocols. These changes include looking at the operational risk level of each LKSD community and updated guidance on mitigation strategies, including masking.

The School Climate and Connectedness Survey is an opportunity for you to help us learn what we are doing well and areas where we need to improve.

KLA staff and students are exploring career options through work based learning in education and auto shop classes. Thank you, Bethel schools and principals, for supporting our students!

The CDC recently updated its guidance for K-12 schools, and regional school districts have received updated guidance from YKHC as well. In response, LKSD has updated their COVID-19 Protocols.

Superintendent Hankins joined our "Social Problems" class for a roundtable discussion on education.

Wednesday, Nov. 24, will be an early release day (as on Fridays). We have no school on Nov. 25th and Nov. 26th. We wish your family a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

KLA Junior Adrian (Aidan) Johnson has recently been selected to become the student representative to the Lower Kuskokwim School District School Board.

SSG. Wilbanks from the Army National Guard visited with the students at KLA last week.
